aris Itinerary

Paris for Two - Itinerary
Day 1 USA - Paris
Depart on your overnight flight to Paris.

Day 2 Paris
Arrive at Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) in Paris. Upon completing customs & immigration formalities, you will be met by your personal chauffeur who will whisk you away in a private car to your 4-star hotel.

Day 3 Paris (Historical & Seine)
Today you will become acquainted with “The City of Light” in a relaxing way at your own pace. After breakfast, your personal guide will meet you at your hotel to give you a private historical walking tour of Paris. From your hotel they will take you to the l’Ile de la Cite, onto l’Ile St Louis, and ending up in the Latin Quarter of Paris. Feel free to ask them any questions you have, including suggestions for the best places to go during your free time.

Lunch can be taken at any of the many cafés in the Latin Quarter. The rest of the afternoon is yours to use exploring. This evening you will take a magical trip down the Seine.

Your magical evening cruise down the Seine River under a star-lit sky will be the highlight of your trip. A private car will pick you up at 7 p.m. & return you afterwards. You will embark at the base of the flood-lit Eiffel Tower. As you float down the Seine, you will be treated to a five-course gastronomic meal with wines at your private table with one of the best views of the Paris skyline from the front of the boat. As you pass the beautiful flood-lit monuments of Paris, musicians will play for your dining pleasure, and for dancing.

Day 4 Paris (Louvre)
Your guide from yesterday will meet you again this morning for a fasinating “DaVinici Code” walk around Paris. From the Place Vendôme, through the streets of Paris to St. Sulpice and ending at the Pyramid of the Louvre, this tour brings the book to life.

After the walking tour, approximately two hours, you will be guided through the world famous Louvre.

The Louvre Museum houses so much art that it takes several days to see everything. But before you get started, let Jill know which exhibits you want to visit. For example, you might want to see the Mona Lisa’s mysterious smile or the ancient artifacts brought from Egypt by Napoleon. Jill will be able to help you if you don’t know where to start, or if you want to see some of the Louvre’s hidden treasures. Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed.

Lunch and the afternoon will be at your leisure.

You will have the afternoon available to explore these, or other sites around the city. Better work up an appetite because you will be dining at Le Céladon this evening.

Le Céladon is the Hotel Westminster’s Regency-style, one Michelin star restaurant. With a backdrop of pale green damask wall hangings, Chinese porcelain, paintings, drawings, and antique books, a gastronomic meal will be prepared for you by Le Céladon’s master chef, Christophe Moisand, formerly sous-chef at Le Meurice. This restaurant is known for specialties like its choice fowl, cream soup, and crêpes with “Paimpol” (white beans and black pasta).

Day 5 Paris (Eiffel Tower)
Relaxation and Leisure are the words of the day. Take your time this morning; a stroll along the banks of the Seine will bring you to the Eiffel Tower for your lunch at the exclusive Jules Verne Restaurant. You are very fortunate indeed to be able to experience this deluxe eatery with a panoramic view of Paris because there is usually a 3-month wait for a reservation! After lunch, you will have the rest of the afternoon to leisurely meander through the streets of Paris as you walk back to your hotel.

Day 6 Champagne
After breakfast, you will have an early start at 8:30 a.m. A private car will take you off and away to the Champagne region of France. Your first stop will be the town of Epernay, one of the two towns that produce champagne and the home of Moët et Chandon, the world-renowned champagne house. This house makes, arguably, the most famous champagne in the world, Dom Pérignon, and the oldest.

After a private tour of the exclusive Moët et Chandon cellars, the “Chef de Caves” will guide you through a champagne-tasting, and you will have the opportunity to purchase some superb champagne from this eminent champagne house.

Château d’Etoges will be the setting for your elegant luncheon. Just 30 minutes from Epernay, this 17th-century chateau, surrounded by a moat, was once frequented by the Kings of France during their travels east.

After lunch, continue by private car to the city of Reims, the other home of champagne. Reims is called the “City of Kings” because its Cathedral was once the site of the coronations of the Kings of France.

You will visit the famed Maison Pommery in Reims with its 11-mile galleries. These galleries, lined with sculptures carved into the chalk walls, are used to allow the champagnes to age under precisely controlled conditions. If you have the time, from Pommery you will be taken to the legendary champagne house of Mumm founded in 1827, for a visit to its cellars that hold an inventory of over 25 million bottles.

Day 7 Versailles
Today you will visit two important monuments to French history. Your private car and guide from Days 3 & 4 will pick you up at your hotel and take you to Versailles, the summer palace of the Kings of France. The transformation from Kings’ hunting lodge into what you will see today began with Louis XIII. But it was the “Sun King,” Louis XIV, who set out to build a palace that would be the envy of the European nobility. He succeeded and the style visible at Versailles as been copied, but never duplicated, the world over.

Sacked during the French Revolution, the palace of Versailles was saved only because Louis-Philippe (who reigned 1830-1848) had the palace converted into a museum dedicated to the glory of France. This is as it remains to this day. You will have the morning with your guide to explore this magnificent palace including its famous Hall of Mirrors.

After about two hours, depart Versailles for a drive past the farm of Marie Antoinette, the Trianon Palace, and several of the canals heading for Paris. Your driver can drop you off anywhere you want, don’t forget to ask your guide for suggestions where.

But don’t over-tire yourself because you have a full evening ahead!

After a brief walk back to your hotel for a short rest and change of clothes, your private car will take you, at to an evening of delicious cuisine with champagne and entertainment at the legendary Moulin Rouge. Located in Montmarte, this nightclub revue has run almost uninterrupted for over 100 years. Their newest show has been running since the millennium and is a spectacle to behold.

Day 8 Paris
After many days of running around seeing everything, and coping with jet lag, the body needs a pick-me-up. So today is the ultimate pick-me-up for body and soul.

After a leisurely morning, a visit to the Espace Bien-Être Spa at the Hotel Meurice is scheduled this afternoon for some time in the Jacuzzi and a rejuvenating “Les douceurs Caudalie” spa treatment.

Afterwards, relax over afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries, followed by a glass of champagne in the lovely Winter Garden of the hotel. You will feel as though you are walking on air by the evening.

Day 9 Paris
After a leisurely breakfast, you will have this day to yourself to visit any place you heart desires. If you are at a total loss for what to see next, we have a few recommendations.

The Fragonard Museum is just 5 minutes’ walk from Galeries Lafayette. Fragonard is a perfume company, and at their perfume museum, you will learn about the perfume-making process, and sample and purchase perfumes that cannot be found anywhere else in Paris.

Drop by the Jacquemart-André Museum for lunch in Madame André’s dining room, now considered by some as the most decorative tea room in Paris. If you want to visit the museum, give yourselves an hour or two to really appreciate the collection of interior decorations.
You might want to spend some time at the world’s largest department store for any shopping that you want to do. The Galeries Lafayette will give you a 10% discount on most merchandise when you present the discount card that we will provide to you. In addition, it is helpful to know that the local 12% taxes (“détaxe”) that you pay are refundable if you purchase 175 € worth of merchandise in any one store on the same day.

Therefore, the Galeries Lafayette is an ideal department store for obtaining good prices on a large selection of merchandise, and the store can provide the form that you need to complete for the détaxe refund.

Since you might have an early flight the day after tomorrow, your farewell dinner will be tonight at the Cristal Room Baccarat. This trendy intimate restaurant, located in the 16th district at the home of Baccarat Crystal, is a site to be hold. Words cannot do the restaurants décor justice. The same goes for the food. Chef Thierry Burlot serves fantastic dishes from black truffle risotto to sea scallops. This is great way to un-wined after a busy day.

Day 10 Chartres
After your excursions to the east of, and around, Paris, today you will be traveling to the west. Your private car will take you to Chartres in the famous “chateaux country.” This city is world renowned for its cathedral dating back to the time of the Druids who used if for religious ceremonies. The current structure was built in the 13th century and incorporated flying buttresses. Today’s Romanesque style is exquisitely indescribable.

Continue on to the magnificent Chateau d’Esclimont for lunch. Set in a 60-hectare park, this 16th century chateau has served as a hotel since 1981. Like so many chateaux in France built by the Church, the d’Esclimont was originally built by the Archbishop of Tours.

You will enjoy a gastronomic lunch at “La Rochefoucauld.” Following lunch, your private car will return to Paris to savor your last night. But don’t be too late; an early departure might await you tomorrow.

Day 11 Paris-USA
Your private car will pick you up from your hotel to take you to Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG) for your return flight to the USA with memories to last a lifetime.
